I am a creative director and entrepreneur.
I have been working in advertising and production since 1994, primarily in Venice, CA and New York City. My clients are some of the world’s most recognizable brands and companies including Apple, Acura, Infiniti, Toyota, Adidas and Playstation.
My favorite things are people + connection, instruments + music, tools + creativity, sport + nature, mind + process, and …cameras. Most fulfilling for me is to positively influence the creative culture of companies and groups.
In 1995 I founded Gadget School. It was one of the first broadcast design agencies on the planet. It’s neat to look back at that time because it was the beginning of a massive movement. In 2002 I started HUMUNCULUS in a converted garage and in the last 6 years, the company has produced live-action spots for Nickelodeon, we’ve directed animated spots for Toyota and produced beautiful web projects, most recently for Belvedere Vodka.
I like bringing art, architecture, music, technology, photography, film, sculpture, fitness and meditation together in my work. Projects like the four-city web site for Belvedere Vodka / UrbanDaddy are exciting because I compile the production team, direct, shoot the site photographs, score music and edit. And take my clients for a swim in each city (including one with mechanical waves). It makes for a complete experience.
I manage my projects with a high level of integrity, perspective, and passion. I always start by asking “what is possible?” and then “what does this situation require?” The most exciting things for me are to frame projects in such a way that creativity may naturally unfold and so that people may be the best they want to be.
My uncle says “No one cares about your bio. If you have to write something, make it quick, simple, professional. You’re a face-to-face person.”
OK then. It all comes back to the simple things for me, which is to relish the freedom of making things and inspiring/connecting people.
